Jasprit Bumrah showed his disappointment for not being part of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The BCCI made an official statement about Jasprit Bumrah. He was ruled out of the World Cup due to backache. Jasprit Bumrah complained about his backache before the first game against South Africa.
Jasprit stated that he won’t be playing but will cheer for the team. “As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia,” Bumrah was replaced by Mohammad Siraj in the game against South Africa. He was also absent from the Asia Cup 2022. He mentioned that he was “gutted” for not being able to represent India.
“I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care, and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia” Jasprit Bumrah wrote on his Twitter.
The BCCI made an official tweet about Jasprit Bumrah being absent from the World Cup. Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar can be choices for replacing Bumrah in the tournament.
“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists. Bumrah was initially ruled out from the ongoing Mastercard 3-match T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury. The BCCI will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament soon” Indian Cricket Board tweeted on Sunday.
