Paris held the grand finale of the French Open 2022, and it was a magnificent departure from the tournament. Rafael Nadal beats Casper Rudd and won his record-extending twenty-second Grand Slam title. It was a phenomenal game played by both the players at iconic Roland Garros. Nadal got the upper hand due to his past thirteen-time winning experience. Casper was nervous around his idol but made no compromises. It was an exciting game, with the crowd cheering for both alike.

The game was on 5th June, 6:30 pm IST on Sunday. Rafael won the toss and served first, making an easy first two points. Casper scored one point, but Nadal got two more. Rudd was constantly forced to a defensive position. The first set ended in Rafael’s favor, and prevailed by 6-3. Rudd’s approach to attack was repeatedly discharged by Nadal, and was put to play backhand.

Casper went one up to Rafa in the second set and started with 1-0. Nadal hit back and made two points asserting his dominance in the game. Both scored one and two points, making it 3-3. Nadal broke the tie and scored three more points, winning the second set by 6-3. The third set started with Nadal getting three points. He kept adding points until it’s 6-0 and won the stage.

Nadal’s remarkable victory marked his fourteenth triumph at Roland Garros. He also won the twenty-second Grand Slam title. Rafael Nadal became the oldest player ever to win the French Open at thirty-six years old.
