French Open 2022 Rafael Nadal Heads to Finals After Alexander Zverev Injured

Rafael Nadal, the synonym for Tennis, has qualified for the French Open 2022 finals after defeating Alexander Zverev in Semi-Finals. The game was yesterday, on 3rd May, Friday. Nadal beat the World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals to advance further in the tournament. It was a heartbreaking loss for Zverev, as he played well but had to give up due to an injury. The match was at the iconic clay court of Roland Garros, where the incident occurred.

Nadal, who is thirteen times champion at French Open, is all set to up that number to fourteen. Both the players faced each other for almost three hours, ending in Zverev forfeiting his place and leading Nadal to victory. Alexander opened with a bang and defended the Spaniards’ attacks quite well. The first set was won, by 7-6, where Nadal got the upper hand. It was a long set as both the players were trying to go one up.

The second set was quite hard as Zverev gave his best and defended all attacks while hitting shots. Both played and scored equal points of 6-6. The second set was a tie when Alexander suffered an injury when he twisted his ankle. He took a break and returned after a while on crutches. It led to Rafael Nadal winning the Semi-Finals and entering the  Finals of the French Open.

French Open 2022: Alexander Zverev Injured

The crowd cheered for Alexander, and Nadal also appreciated him for his performance. “Very sad for him, honestly he was playing an unbelievable tournament” Rafael stated about Zverev. He added, “He’s a very good colleague on the tour. I know how much he’s fighting to win a grand slam but for the moment he was very unlucky. The only thing I’m sure of is that he is going to win not one, much more than one. So I wish him all the very best.” Nadal will face Casper Rudd in Finals on 5th June, Sunday.
