The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) suspended the All-India Football Federation due to third-party interference on 14th August. It has caused plenty of damage to the Indian Federation regarding the management of the sport. The immediate effect was on India as the U-17 FIFA World Cup scheduled to happen in India was canceled.
The Indian football team was to face Singapore on 24th September and Vietnam on 27th September. Both the games were canceled due to the ban by FIFA. Both the games were crucial to India as it was for the preparation of the Asia Cup Football next year. Vietnam will be hosting the Asia Cup at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.
Due to the AIFF ban, India was unable to host matches. The Vietnam Football Federation communicated to the AIFF about their inability to host the games. FIFA wrote to their members’ association and reminded them not to enter any “Sporting Contact with AIFF” while they are suspended.
