CWG 2022: Neeraj Chopra Pulls Out of the Games, Advised for One-Month Rest: Tokyo Olympics champion Neeraj Chopra suffered from a groin injury. He has pulled out of the Commonwealth Games, starting from 28th July on Thursday. Chopra recently represented India at the World Athletics Championship at Eugene in the USA.

Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal at the World Athletics Championship. He anticipated crossing the 90-meter mark but failed to go past the 80s. He got a groin injury at the Championship finals in Eugene. Chopra went under an MRI scan the following day and was advised a month’s rent.

Rajeev Mehta, the secretary-general of the Indian Olympic Association, informed the Indian Express. He stated, “I was informed by the Athletics Federation of India today morning that Neeraj is not 100 percent fit. He had injured his groin and after scans, has been told to rest for one month. Consequently, he will not be taking part in the Commonwealth Games.”

Neeraj Chopra was supposed to be the Flag-bearer for India in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on Thursday. DP Manu and Rohit Yadav will be in the men’s javelin representing India. It will be difficult for India without Chopra with World Champion Peter and 2012 Olympic Champion Keshorn Walcott challenging India.
