IPL 2021: Virat Kohli Expects Sri Lanka Duo To Shine For Royal Challengers Bangalore

According to skipper Virat Kohli, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera might be significant players for Royal Challengers Bangalore when the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season resumes in the United Arab Emirates. Due to the absence of Australian combo Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa, the two Sri Lankans were added to the RCB team. Despite the absence of two top players, Kohli is certain that the two Lanka substitutes will perform admirably in the UAE.

“Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa, who were with us for a while in the first leg, they were a vital part of the team, they made the decision not to play in the second leg for reasons that are completely acceptable,” Kohli said on Saturday, according to ESPNCricinfo.

“We have two players who are familiar with these situations as alternatives for those people. The weather on the subcontinent is comparable at this time of year,” he added.

“Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera are two guys who have played a lot of cricket for Sri Lanka and know how to play on grounds like these. Their skill sets will be invaluable to us when we play in Dubai, understanding how hot and humid the circumstances may be and how the pitches will play out. The newcomers seamlessly integrate into the team’s culture and strategy. The core group is similarly energised. We haven’t focused on what we’ve missed out on, but we feel stronger as a result of the new additions, which have provided us with a few additional dimensions.”

In their first game since the IPL 2021 resume, RCB will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
