Leg spinner Kuldeep Yadav of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has claimed that the team is in good spirits following the postponing of the IPL 2021 season. He stated that the team wasn’t playing well, therefore the break was beneficial to them.
So far this season, KKR has struggled to put together a cohesive team effort. They’ve relied on individual heroics, particularly from their international players, to get their two wins out of seven so far. Fortunately for them, the league was postponed, allowing them to reset.
The team has gathered in Mumbai ahead of their travel to the UAE for the second leg of the tournament, which starts on September 19. Kuldeep indicated that the team is excited and ready to start when asked about the team’s mood.
“Break is something that is good for a team, especially (for us) because we didn’t have momentum in the first half. This is a good opportunity. I really feel that the boys are all pumped up. Hopefully, in the coming seasons, we can have this year as a reference,” he said.
Pat Cummins has made himself available for the season prior to his departure. He announced that his wife is expecting a child in the middle of the tournament. As a result, KKR brought in Tim Southee from New Zealand as a replacement, and coach Brendon McCullum was satisfied with the move.
“We are delighted to have Southee in our ranks. He is a proven match-winner and a welcome addition to the already strong pace attack of KKR. With Cummins being unavailable, we wanted to add experience and leadership to our bowling group, and Southee is the ideal man for the job,” McCullum claimed.
When they face high-flying Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first match after the resumption, KKR will hope to get their act together.
