IPL 2021: RCB Will Sport Blue Jersey On September 20 In Support Of Frontline Workers

In their IPL encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on September 20, Monday, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will wear the blue jersey. It serves as a symbol of support for frontline workers battling the covid-19 pandemic.

RCB is known for making similar gestures, and has previously worn green jerseys to raise environmental awareness. The franchise has taken on a new cause this time, and Virat Kohli’s men will be wearing the blue jersey to honour the frontline workers.

“RCB to wear Blue Jersey v KKR on 20th We at RCB are honoured to sport the Blue kit, that resembles the colour of the PPE kits of the frontline warriors, to pay tribute to their invaluable service while leading the fight against the Covid pandemic,” the tweet on RCB’s official page.

Only a few months ago, the franchise announced that it will be donating to the healthcare business by funding oxygen support tanks in Bangalore and a few other locations. The Give India Foundation, which intends to deliver Oxygen concentrators to different parts of the country, was also in contact with RCB.

The IPL’s 14th season begins on September 19, with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) (CSK). The remaining 31 matches will be held in three stadiums in the United Arab Emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

Virat Kohli, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, expressed his excitement ahead of the competition. He is optimistic that the club will be able to pick up where they left off last season. Bangalore’s team has five wins in seven games and is now in third place.

“It’s going to be an exciting phase and a very important one for us at RCB and then for the Indian team at the T20 World Cup. I am very excited to see them with the whole group at practice & very excited to resume a very good season that we started last time around,” the 32-year-old said.
