Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat along with others, officially entered the Commonwealth Games 2022. Sakshi Malik is an Olympic Bronze medallist from the Rio Olympics held in 2016. Vinesh Phogat is also an Olympian representing India in the Tokyo Olympics. Both have represented India in plenty of International championships. Commonwealth Games 2022 will be held in Birmingham, England, and will begin on 28th July on a Thursday and end on 8th August, Monday.
Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat along with Commonwealth Games 2018 Bronze medallist Divya Kakran, Anshu Malik, Pooja Gehlot, and Pooja Sihag. All six of them have been selected to participate and represent India in the UK. Each has represented the nation on international platforms and is the face of the Indian Wrestling Women’s Team.
Sakshi Malik defeated Sonam Malik, an Olympian from Tokyo Olympics, by 8-1 and Sangeeta Phogat by 7-5 to secure her position in CWG 2022. Vinesh Phogat won all her matches till she qualified. Indian Wrestlers have before thrashed all other countries and came on top of the Commonwealth Games.
