Commonwealth Games 2022 is just a couple of weeks away, and will begin on 28th July in Birmingham. India will be omnipresent in all athletics and team sports with well-prepared members and squads. India had already announced the athletics representation, and the BCCI has disclosed a 15-member Women’s Cricket Squad for the CWG 2022.

BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah stated in a release, “The All-India Women’s Selection Committee met on Monday to pick the squad for the forthcoming 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. This will be the first time that Women’s T20 International will be featured in the prestigious multi-sport event,” India is placed in Group A along with Australia, Barbados, and Pakistan. Group B features Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England, and South Africa.

The top two teams from the groups will progress to the semi-finals. India will play three games before qualifying and will begin on 29th July. CWG and India have a good history, with us winning among the major medal-winning countries. In 2018, India won 26 gold medals, 20 silvers, and 20 bronze medals.

The 15-Member Indian Women’s Squad is:
Harmanpreet Kaur(C), Smriti Mandhana(VC), Shafali Verma, S Meghana, Taniyaa Sapna Bhatia(WK), Yastika Bhatia(WK), Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Pooja Vastrkar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana.
Apart from these 15 players, three additional players are on stand-by- Simran Dil Bahadur, Richa Ghosh, and Poonam Yadav.
