Sadly there will be no shooting competitions at the CWG this year. It will be a significant blow for India. India was the top country in Shooting with the most medals. We have won more than 25% of the medallions via shooting. It has made a massive contribution to ranking among the top medal-scoring countries. India has won 135 out of 503 medals through shooting.

Commonwealth Games Federation(CGF) Chief Executive Officer, Katie Sadlier stated that shooting might feature in the next Games in 2026. Saddler addressed the media ahead of CWG Opening Ceremony about the shooting. She said, “Currently there is an Expression of Interest that’s out there, where the international federations that are currently not on the programme have been invited to put forward a proposal for consideration. Indian Chief Rifle Coach, Joydeep Karmakar kept his fingers crossed and said, “It is a welcome thing if it really happens, that is. We have been hearing about this though. There is a first list though, and it only means there will be a second list. It is good that the ISSF, IOA, and NRAI are working on it. I am sure that the ISSF will have a say in this. By November, hopefully, we will have good news.”
