Asia Cup Hockey 2022 is currently going on in Jakarta, Indonesia. It started on 23rd May on a Monday and will play its final game on 1st June on a Wednesday. India has previously won gold and bronze medals in Archery. It has now started the hockey section of the Cup. Indian Men’s Hockey Team faced their first-ever game of Asia 2022 against Pakistan. Both the teams were part of the A pool and were playing their first match.

The Indian Men’s Hockey team led by Karti Selvam against the Pakistani Men’s Hockey team on 23rd May. Selvam got the upper hand during the first quarter and gave his team a deserving score of 1-0. The contrasting goalkeeper wasn’t ready for a score and so was Muhammad Abdullah, Pakistani defender. Umar Bhatti, a Pakistani performer, was also leading the Indian defense and got close to scoring a point. The blue team’s defense managed to keep them off the goalposts.

India tried to score more in the second and third quarters, but the green team held off our players. We secured a penalty corner but couldn’t score Pakistani goalie Akmal Hussain saved the shot by Neelam Sajip Xess. They also received a penalty corner, but their attempt failed as well. Akmal Hassan was playing quite well as he solely kept several attacks from Indian skippers. Pawan Rajbhar led an attack from point-blank range but still failed.

Pakistan finally equaled the score by 1-1 by a penalty given to them after a tackle by Vishnukant Singh. Abdul Rana equaled the score in the fifty-ninth minute. It was an incredible attention-seeking game played by the neighboring country. Akmal Hussain was the star due to his excellent goal-keeping and keeping Indian players out of the goal’s reach. India will also move further ahead in the tournament after this draw. They will play their next match against Japan on 24th May. Indian Men’s Hockey Team won the previous Asia Cup Hockey, being on top of the list.
