India was selected in the super 4 after their exemplary performance against Indonesia on 2th May. The Indian Men’s Hockey team faced Japan for the second time in Asia Cup 2022 at GBK Sports Complex Hockey Stadium in Jakarta. Previously the Japanese team defeated India by 2-5. It was a golden opportunity for an avenging match and India took their best game on the field. Japan was also the Asian Champions from earlier tournaments.Â

India took on Japan for the second time, but they didn’t repeat the mistakes they made in their previous game. Japan wasted no time and put their attack at the beginning of the match. Their strategy was to score first and put on defensive positions. Before they got to their plan, India made the score 1-0. Manjeet scored a goal in the seventh minute and showed his 3Dd skills at attacking. It was a good lead for India in the first quarter to mark their victory.Â

Japan scored within the first half, and Niwa Takuma scored a goal against the Indian goalkeeper Suraj Karkera. It was now again a competitive game and was tough to win. Both the teams ended with 1-1 in the first half. Pawan Rajbhar went into the Japanese defense with the help of Uttam Singh and scored the second goal in thirty-four minutes. Captain Birendra Lakra kept the opponents from scoring and led the team to the victory.
India is now in the second position, the first being Japan. The team will face Malaysia on 29th May, Sunday. It will be a noteworthy match for the further involvement of India in the tournament.
