Asia Cup 2022: People say India-Pakistan players fight, but…- Virender Sehwag on Arch-Rivalry

Former Indian cricketer Virendra Sehwag on the rivalry between two neighboring countries. India will begin its game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 28th August. The Asia Cup is just a day ahead and will begin on the 27th of August. India will face the first match with Pakistan on Sunday. It is the most awaited match of the Asia Cup. People from both nations will witness a battle between the two almost after every year.

Virender Sehwag said how both the teams are not rivals and have no grudge. “What I feel is that when India and Pakistan are on the ground, it’s a difficult game. Everybody gives their best. If somebody is from India, the person plays to win the game for his team. If somebody is playing for Pakistan, the same thing happens. When we finish the match and return to the hotel, we spend time together. There is a lot of love between us.” Virender Sehwag said in a video uploaded by the Star Sports YouTube channel.

Sehwag cleared the confusion among the audience, that many think India and Pakistan’s players play with hate. But the former cricketer corrected that there is no tension at all between the two teams.

“Some people say that there is tension between India and Pakistan, or that there is a fight between India and Pakistan players, but I would like to say that nothing of that sort happens. You see the competition only on the field. Outside it, we are friends, we behave as if one is the elder brother and the other the younger brother.”

Notable India and Pakistan’s two fierce bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi won’t be playing in the Asia Cup due to injury.
