AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das Resigns Due to Health Issues

Kushal Das was the General Secretary of the All India Football Federation or AIFF and has maintained that position for twelve years. He was a controversial person with several allegations against him. The Committee of Administrators or CoA kept him out of his job after multiple financial anomalies.

He has been accused of financial improprieties and resigned from his post due to health issues. The AIFF stated in a media release, “Kushal Das, General Secretary of All India Football Federation has resigned from his post citing medical reasons. The All India Football Federation respects his decision, and thanks to him for his contribution and guidance during his tenure in office. We wish him a good health and luck in his future endeavours,”

The AIFF appointed Sunando Dhar as the new Acting General Secretary. The CoA is presently running the Indian Football affairs after Praful Patel’s dispensation was ruled out by the Supreme Court for not holding the elections on time. Das was also accused of molestation by a female employee of the Federation staff and an internal complaint was filed.

The Committee of Administration also figured that an astrology firm was paid more than 16 lakhs to predict the fate of the senior men’s national team in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. Another complaint had popped up, where an Ahmedabad-based football academy’s name has cropped up on some murky dealing of some former Indian Arrows players. Kushal Das worked as Chief Financial Officer with the International Cricket Council ICC for two years.
