England All-Rounder Sam Curran Ruled Out Of ICC T20 World Cup Due To Back Injury

The England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Tuesday that all-rounder Sam Curran will miss the next Twenty20 World Cup due to a back issue. Curran became aware of the issue after playing for Chennai Super Kings against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League on Saturday. The Surrey left-injury hander’s was discovered by scans, and he will return home for more tests and a comprehensive evaluation with England’s medical team.

Curran’s brother, Tom, has been brought into England’s team to replace the 23-year-old, who is set to be out for several weeks due to injury.

Reece Topley of Surrey has been added as a travelling reserve and will join the England squad soon.

England players and management who are not participating in the IPL landed in Muscat on Tuesday to begin their preparations for the T20 World Cup.

They will play warm-up matches against India and New Zealand before beginning their competition on October 23 against the West Indies.
