Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid Tests COVID Positive, Won’t Travel to Dubai for Asia Cup

The Head Coach of India Rahul Dravid has recently tested positive for Covid-19. India finished their Zimbabwe tour with a sweeping victory in the three-game ODI series. The Team India won all three games of the series. Men in blue are headed for a T20 match at the Asia Cup. Sadly Rahul Dravid won’t be joining and will be in quarantine.

The BCCI announced the news about Rahul Dravid. The Cricket Board made an official release stating, “Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team’s departure to the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report. The rest of the team will assemble in UAE on 23rd August 2022.”

The Indian team will travel to the United Arab Emirates on 23rd August and practice for the upcoming tournament. India will face Pakistan in their first match on 28th August. Dravid was also not present in Zimbabwe for the ODI series, which ended on the 22nd of August. The six teams will play competitive matches as they are preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma will lead India with KL Rahul as deputy. All eyes are on Virat Kohli, hoping to make a comeback against Pakistan. Rishabh Pant who scored excellent runs in all three forms, will be the wicket-keeper. Sadly Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah will miss the Asia Cup due to an injury. IPL fame Arshdeep Singh will make his debut in Asia Cup.
