Rock band ‘Nirvana’ being sued for child sexual exploitation over 30-year-old cover of ‘Nevermind’

Nirvana, a well-known rock band, has been accused of sexual exploitation over a 30 year-old album cover portraying an infant.

Spencer Elden, 30, is suing Nirvana for “lifelong damages” he has suffered as a result of the artwork. His portrait as a newborn was used on the cover of the band’s album “Nevermind.”

Elden, a four-month-old baby, was depicted swimming in a pool with a $1 bill in front of him on the Nevermind album cover.

“The photographs revealed Spencer’s personal body part and lasciviously portrayed Spencer’s genitals from the time he was a child to the current day,” the legal papers state, according to the BBC.

Elden stated that the picture was child pornography. According to his lawyer, the image makes his client appear “like a sex worker.”

Elden claims that his name and identity are “forever linked to the commercial sexual exploitation he endured as a kid, which has been distributed and marketed globally from the time he was a newborn to the current day.”

According to reports, he claims the artwork has caused him lasting harm, including “severe and persistent emotional pain.”

Elden is suing each of the 15 defendants for $150,000 in damages, including surviving band members and Kurt Cobain’s estate administrators.

Nirvana’s representatives have yet to comment, according to the BBC.
