Fully vaccinated people cannot be revaccinated with another vaccine, Centre tells Kerala HC

On Tuesday, the Union government told the Kerala High Court that those who have been completely vaccinated cannot be vaccinated again.

According to ANI, the court was hearing a petition from a man from the state’s Kannur district, who requested permission for revaccination despite being completely vaccinated with Covaxin.

In his appeal to the High Court, Girikumar Thekkan Kunnumpurath, a 50-year-old Saudi Arabian worker, stated that he wishes to be revaccinated with Covishield despite having been completely vaccinated with Covaxin, because Saudi Arabia does not recognise Covishield.

According to his immigration agreement, he must return to work by August 30 or risk losing his employment.

He claimed in his appeal that he returned to India after the pandemic’s second wave reached Saudi Arabia in January.

“He received the first dosage of Covaxin on April 17 and the second dose a month later. He just found out that Covaxin was not approved by the Saudi government after getting it. He would not have taken Covaxin if the authorities had notified the public about its non-recognition sooner. He had no idea that his action would jeopardise his career in another country, ” according to ANI, his lawsuit claimed.
