Tata Motors, India’s largest automaker, said on Monday that it will debut its compact SUV Punch during the current Christmas season.
Punch is inspired on Tata Motors’ H2X concept, which was shown at the Auto Expo 2020. It will be positioned underneath the Nexon, the company’s small SUV, and will go on sale around Diwali this year.
Punch is slated for a “national introduction this Christmas season,” according to Tata Motors, and will combine “tough utility with sports dynamism.” It did not, however, provide any further information.
“Tata Punch, as the name implies, is an active vehicle with the capacity to travel anywhere,” said Shailesh Chandra, head of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle business segment.
He further said, “True to the SUV genes of all Tata Motors’ products and catering to the needs of customers, who are looking for a compact city car with pure SUV characteristics, Punch will be the fourth addition to our SUV family, widening the range of options for all to choose from”.
It’s the first SUV to be designed using the ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) platform and the Impact 2.0 design language.
